I’m not going to lie, photographing toddlers can be challenging. Toddlers are rarely interested in me or my camera and they move fast. Very fast. Still, I LOVE photographing this age! I love their spirit, their new found independence, yet their need for mom and dad to be close. I love their sense of adventure and curiosity. I strive to capture at least some of these characteristics in toddler photos. For example this little guy wanted to hold his toy during his photo session and I was so glad mom didn’t stress over that. I thought it was perfect to really show the stage he is in right now. Just look at his tiny hands holding that toy…precious!! The way he is looking at it like he’s trying to figure out how it works. Then we have the serious look in the black and white photo…my heart melts!! I finally captured a couple of big smiles with mom and dad. This is a toddler…serious one minute, happy the next, sad the next…full of life and emotion!
To the mom and dad of this sweet little man, thank you for choosing me to photograph this stage for you!
