I am so excited to share Karson and Kasey’s beautiful fall engagement session with you! They are the sweetest couple! When I first met them, I knew right away that I wanted to be their wedding photographer! After a quick meeting getting to know them and answering a few questions, they were ready to hire me and I was thrilled! We decided to take their engagement photos at their wedding venue, The Grove in Aubrey, TX. It is a gorgeous property with lots of trees and the most adorable little tree house! Karson and Kasey we a little nervous in the beginning (as most people are), but they warmed up quickly and rocked their session! I gave them a couple of back of the camera peeks and they were loving the results! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day at The Grove in May!the_grove_engagement_dallas_wedding_photographer_2the_grove_engagement_dallas_wedding_photographer_3

I met this family on a beautiful fall afternoon for their session! I had a blast photographing this brother/sister duo! Big brother kept us all laughing! They were so great to work with! I just hope mom and dad decide to join them next time!

I photograph many families with younger children, but for some reason this tween/early teen stage seems to get forgotten! I have two tween girls myself and I understand life gets busy and this age is sometimes less than cooperative, but it is just as important to photograph this stage as well as the younger stages of childhood! I was SO happy to get tween/teen siblings in front of my camera!

Oh hey there random Family Friday post! I think I’ll just start surprising you with random Family Friday posts since I obviously can’t stick to a weekly routine! You never know if you’ll get one this week or next week or the next week or next month…LOL!

I had to share a few photos from Savanna’s 10th birthday party! This is the 5th year in a row that Savanna has had a costume party for her birthday and the 3rd year in a row that our outdoor party plans were rained out ๐Ÿ™ This year Savanna decided to be Apple White, Snow White’s daughter, from Ever After High. It is always so fun to see everyone’s costumes! Once all the guests arrived they sat down for a pizza party under party lights in the living room! If you know me, you know I LOVE party lights and I had to use them!! After pizza, we made caramel and chocolate apples! This activity was a hit! I am so sad that I didn’t get photos of the apples and toppings before the party and more photos of the process! I was too busy trying to help dip and write names on the apple sticks!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…It is really hard to be hostess, party organizer, AND photographer! Every year I swear I’ll hire a party planner so I can focus on capturing the party, but I just can’t do it! I like the planning too ๐Ÿ™‚ After everyone had made two apples to take home, we played a few games and then sat down for craft time! They decorated wooden photo frames with ribbon and you guessed it…GLITTER!! I will forever be vacuuming up glitter! Oh well, they had fun and that’s all that matters! They also had fun playing the mummy wrap game for the 5th year in a row! You would think they would be tired of this game by now, but they still love it and they’ve become expert wrappers!! I should have taken a photo of the floor covered in white streamers after the game! After mummy wrap, it was time to cut the cake! Everyone was excited for birthday cake, but it is always sad to cut into the fabulous birthday cake from Geelicious Confections! Gloria with Geelicious Confections always does an amazing job!!

All of Savanna’s friends went home with smiles on their faces, sugar in their tummies, and treats to eat later ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’d say that makes for a successful party!!

This beautiful 1st birthday party was a photographer’s dream! Park Cities ONE Design Studio was the perfect venue for this intimate gathering of friends and family celebrating Jamison’s 1st birthday! The space was bright and beautiful! Prim & Pretty Events did a fabulous job with the decor and yummy dessert table! The kids table provided a few fun activities to keep little ones occupied! Both kids and adults enjoyed a Polaroid photo booth with fun props!

After everyone had time to chat and eat a delicious meal, the guests gathered for a Korean ceremony. The birthday boy was changed into a beautiful, traditional Korean outfit. He was placed on a blanket with several items in front of him. Each item represents a future career. He chose the hammer, so little Jamison is a future architect! After a few photos in his Korean outfit, it was time for cake! Jamison liked playing in the blue frosting and feeding it to his mom!

I can’t seem to keep up with this Family Friday series I started! Today’s post is super lame, but I thought I would do a quick update for anyone who follows this series…I know I have a few followers! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these photos so I apologize for not being more original today!

In a nutshell this is what our May and June looked like:

  • Sydney finished up volleyball season and sadly she has decided not to play next year so she can continue and increase her dance training. I really enjoyed watching her play volleyball, but I also love to watch her dance! It is tough when kids reach a point where they must give up one loved activity for another due to time commitments! Everything is a trade off though and that is a great lesson to learn early in life! We just can’t have or do it ALL!
  • My family celebrated me on Mother’s Day by making a wonderful surf and turf dinner with a nice red wine! That’s my kind of celebration!! I also received roses and wonderful cards!
  • We’ve been enjoying grilling…a LOT!
  • We’ve spent some time at our community pool! And we’ll be doing more of that this weekend!
  • I had a fun girls night out with Sydney seeing Pitch Perfect 2! LOVED IT! We laughed out loud and sang along!
  • We’ve been so busy that there have been a few weeks where the refrigerator was very empty! Not good because that means I’m not planning meals and we’re not making good eating choices!
  • The girls finished up a great school year with both of them on A honor roll!! Sydney officially completed the dual language program at her school! Such a HUGE accomplishment! She is fluent in Spanish and will be taking high school level Spanish next year even though she’ll only be in 7th grade! We are SO proud of her! Savanna is following suit with her Spanish education and will continue to learn in both English and Spanish!
  • I had a very special surprise for Sydney on the last day of school! I gave her concert tickets to see her favorite band! We will be seeing 5 Seconds of Summer in concert next month!! She is SO excited! This will be her first concert and I can’t wait to experience it with her!
  • The first few weeks of summer have been full of dance recitals, blue skies, cupcake making, hair braiding, book reading, tv watching, and dance competition! Summer is already going by too fast! We have a lot of fun to pack into the next 2 months!
