My family’s favorite treat is homemade chocolate chip cookies! No, not the slice and bake kind. No, not the dry mix that you add water and eggs to make cookies. I’m talking about good old fashioned flour, eggs, sugar, butter, and chocolate chips kind of cookies! I enjoy baking and when I was a young girl I wanted to own a bakery. My body thanks me for not pursuing that dream because I love to eat what I bake! I’m not one of those I just enjoy baking treats but not eating them kind of girls! If my trainer reads this he will certainly shake his head in disappointment. Everything in moderation right?!
Here’s my family’s not so secret anymore recipe! This recipe makes a huge batch of cookies, so I like to bake a pan or two. Then I make cookie dough balls, line them up on a cutting board or cookie sheet and freeze them. I put all those frozen cookie dough balls in a ziplock bag and we can easily have a few fresh cookies for dessert or lunch box treat. As long as my family doesn’t find the frozen cookie dough balls and eat them straight out of the freezer…I’m not mentioning any names but the only guy in our house really loves to do this 😉
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups butter softened
2 teaspoons vanilla (pure vanilla please don’t use that imitation stuff)
3 large eggs
4 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 (12 oz) packages of semi-sweet chocolate chips (we prefer Hershey’s brand)
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl beat sugar, brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; blend well. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheets (I use a cookie scoop…perfect cookies every time).
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack. I like to under bake them just a little for a perfect slightly crisp outside but chewy deliciousness on the inside!
Have a sweet weekend my friends! *pun intended* 🙂
